How this came to be...

A world citizen at heart, Kate McElderry, has been connecting with other educators and advocates in Ireland for a number of years.  Through these meetings--both formal and informal--she has gained information, given talks, and shared ideas on the topics of language and literacy, dyslexia and methods used at the unique research-based institution she teaches at, The Odyssey School.

Despite the distance, Kate maintains a strong connection to Ireland. She has worked with Irish students as a tutor and even hosted Irish (and other international children) as exchange students in her home during the summer holiday.

Rather than continue to host and teach from America, Kate is bringing The Dyslexia Empowerment Workshop to Ireland with the help of The McDonnell and Reilly families, and Irish counterparts, Christine Hyde and David Donohue. Together, they are excited to build a community of learning and creativity in Ireland this summer!
