Why integrate ART in LITERACY LESSONS?
Many of our workshops infuse art as more than a fun activity, but a mechanism for learning academic skills, promoting metacognition, and developing confidence.
In terms of literacy skills, art can be used to:
-
bolster reading comprehension
-
represent symbolism visually
-
accompany poetry/ descriptive writing
-
capture ideas for writing
-
model the process of editing
-
promote self-expression
-
increase concentration
Our Creative Expression classes are an amazing blend of art, literacy and innovation. Our sessions together are a chance to learn creativity skills, play off of strengths, and express ourselves.
Art can be connected to other disciplines just as mathematics and science. See our Student Art page to see some wonderful brain models and art!
