Why integrate ART in LITERACY LESSONS?

Many of our workshops infuse art as more than a fun activity, but a mechanism for learning academic skills, promoting metacognition, and developing confidence.

In terms of literacy skills, art can be used  to:

• bolster reading comprehension 

• represent symbolism visually

• accompany poetry/ descriptive writing

• capture ideas for writing

• model the process of editing 

• promote self-expression

• increase concentration

Our Creative Expression classes are an amazing blend of art, literacy and innovation.  Our sessions together are a chance to learn creativity skills, play off of strengths, and express ourselves.
